75 Hours Home Care Aide Training (On The Job Training Facilities)

The 75-Hour Home Care Aide Training prepares new caregivers for Washington State HCA certification by combining online learning, specialty courses, and on-the-job skills training. It includes required Orientation, Safety, Core Basic Training, Nurse Delegation, and hands-on facility practice. Students also complete Dementia and Mental Health Level 1 specialty courses to build essential caregiving knowledge. This comprehensive program equips workers with the skills needed to provide safe, effective personal care in long-term care settings.

Course Overview

Training hours required to take the home care aide certification exam. The following classes make up the 75 hours:
  • Orientation Training: 2 hours of introductory information orienting new workers to the care setting and job. (Online Self-Paced)
  • Safety Training: 3 hours of introductory information on safety practices. (Online Self-Paced)
  • Core basic training – 54 hours Training covering the basic skills and information needed to provide hands on personal care. (Online Self-Paced). On the Job Training Skills conducted onsite.
  • Nurse Delegation Core Basic: (9 hours): (Online Self-Paced)
  • This course provides basics for RN delegated tasks such as medication assistance, and patient specific procedures per rules and regulations regarding nurse delegation.
  • Hands on Classroom training: On The Job Training Skills Conducted at facility. 
  • Dementia Level 1 Specialty Training (8 hours): (Virtual via Zoom)
  • This course is for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to the different types of dementia.
  • Mental Health Level 1 Specialty Training (8 hours): (Virtual via Zoom)
  • This course is for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to mental disorder.
