As of February 29, 2024, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) made changes to their Home Care Aide (HCA) credential and exam scheduling process. If you are still completing your HCA certification process, you will get an email from Prometric with information on how to log into the new website. After logging in, you will be able to view your profile, exam activity and self-schedule for your English exam(s).

Governor Inslee directed all schools within Washington State to cease in-person classes as of March 17, 2020 through at least May 31, 2020. This includes all public and private institutions that provide any type of career and technical training as well as degree granting institutions.

How long does it take to become a home health aide? That is a good question. The answer to that is it depends on each individual. For most care givers, it takes about 75 hours to become a home health aide. Once you complete the training requirement, you will need to submit an application with the state for testing and certification.

How you can become a certified home health aide in Washington State. The first thing you need to do is take the 75 hour home care aide training class but it must be DSHS approved. Washington Care Academy offers an online interactive DSHS approved training.
