Course Overview

Training hours required to take the home care aide certification exam. The following classes make up the 75 hours: Our Course is DSHS approved online interactive.

Our 75-hour HCA program uses a Hybrid Learning Model to combine the flexibility of online theory with the necessity of hands-on expertise.

  • Orientation & Safety (5 Hours): Get started immediately with our 100% online, self-paced orientation (2 hours) and safety (3 hours) modules. This foundational training prepares you for the care setting.

  • Core Basic Training (54 Hours): Core Basic Training is a foundational educational program for long-term care workers. It teaches essential caregiving skills, safety protocols, and client rights, and is a vital step toward becoming a certified Home Care Aide (HCA.

    • 38-Hour Theory (Online): Topics include; Fundamentals of care giving, Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Client rights and advocacy, Safety, emergency procedures, and infection control. 

    • 16-Hour Clinical Skills Lab (In-Person): Learn hands on the HCA skills in a professional environment. We partner with fully equipped lab facilities across Washington to provide regional access. Choose the site closest to you:

      • King County: Federal Way 

      • Spokane County: Spokane 

      • Clark County: Vancouver 


Nurse Delegation:

Expand your scope of practice with our DSHS-approved Nurse Delegation modules. Both are 100% online and self-paced.

  • Nurse Delegation Core (9 Hours): Essential training for nursing assistants and home care aides to perform delegated tasks.

  • Nurse Delegation: Special Focus on Diabetes (3 Hours): A specialized module focused on insulin administration and diabetic care.

  • This course provides basics for RN delegated tasks such as medication assistance, and patient specific procedures per rules and regulations regarding nurse delegation.
  • Dementia Level 1 Specialty Training (8 hours): (Virtual via Zoom)
  • This course is for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to the different types of dementia.
  • Mental Health Level 1 Specialty Training (8 hours): (Virtual via Zoom)
  • This course is for caregivers, resident managers, and providers in long term care settings. You will obtain an introduction to Mental Health and Dementia Specialty Training.

We’ve streamlined the Washington state requirements so you can finish your training and get certified faster.

Step 1: 5 Hours Safety & Orientation (Online)

Complete your mandatory Safety and Orientation training 100% online. This is the required first step before moving on to your core curriculum.

Step 2: 54 Hours Core Basic and Population Specific (Online)

Complete the majority of your core hours online at your own pace. This step includes 16 hours of 'Population Specific' training held via live Zoom sessions with our instructors.

Step 3: 16 Hours Skills Lab (In-Person)

Choose the location most convenient for you! Attend your mandatory in-person skills practice at our professional labs in Federal Way, Vancouver, or Spokane. Our instructors ensure you master all state-tested skills
