Caregiver Culture Card Scenario Assignment:

I am going to give you a scenario about a client and I want you to write a 500 word paper telling me how you would care for that client based on reading the culture card. The paper must include the client’s culture, personal and spiritual needs.

Scenario:
You work for a home care agency and received a new client.  The clients name is Mr. Johan. His wife recently passed away from cancer. She was his primary caregiver. His children live in another state. They contacted the home care agency and asked to have a care giver once a day to help care for him. The client is 99 years old American Indian.

Information about Mr. Johan – He is able to walk but uses a mobility scooter to get around. He is still able to drive. He has not taking a bath in over a month since his wife passed away. He does not know how to cook and orders takeout to be delivered every day. Mr. Johan likes to go to the local bingo casino every Monday at 2pm-3pm. The house is in disarray with dirty close and trash all over the place.

It’s Monday at 9am and Mr.Johan is still sleeping and was disturbed when you rang the bell. He knew you were coming but does not like getting up early. You look for a Care Plan but the nurse agency is off for the day and forgot to leave one with Mr. Johan. You have been assigned to be with Mr.Johan from 9am -3pm. Based on the current information, what tasks will you perform for the day.

Assignment:

Write 500 word essay that includes the client’s physical, cultural and spiritual needs. Make sure you read the culture card “A guide to build culture awareness, American Indian and Alaska Native. Mr. Johan is Native American, so your paper must include how you would care for him based on his culture.
