Core Basic Module 2 Assignment:

Scenario 1: You are working as an Induvial provider (IP) in a client’s apartment. You have a difficult day at a client’s home while working with them that day. They didn’t want any help with any of their activities of daily living, had explosive diarrhea and has been shouting at you the whole shift. As you leave their apartment you run into one of the client’s friends in the elevator. When the friend asks question’s regarding your client’s day health.

Assignment: Do you disclose any information about the client health or day to the friend? Explain.

Scenario 2: You are working at an assistant living facility. You are working with Mr. Smith who has Alzheimer’s and dementia. You hear yelling and screaming coming from his room as you pass by, when you go inside the room you see a bloody bruise on Mr. Smith’s cheek and tears coming down from his eyes. You notice another caregiver who is angry in the client’s bathroom washing what seems like blood from their hands, while cursing and threating the client.

Assignment: Would you report this scenario? Do you need proof to report abuse? Why or why not?

Scenario 3: You are working at an adult family home and you go into a client’s room when you notice the client is tied up to their bed.  You know that the client has a history of taking their clothes off at night and walking around the facility.

Assignment: Is it acceptable behavior to tie a client up to the bed in this situation? Explain.
